I think that most of the European airlines are stricter about carryons. British Midlands always gives me a hard time about my rollerboard at the check-in counter, so I don't let them see the bag when checking in--the gate agents don't seem to have a problem with the standard rollerboard. They have almost made me check my brief case as well since it is usually over 7.5 kilos. I bought a 20" model specifically for European travel and this helps a bit.
