You can only earn 150K Thank you points per CALENDAR year - so you could get one now, and set your statement date to say 26 November when you apply (there is an option on select your date) - spend 25K for this statement and 25K for the 26 December statement (so thats your 150K TYP for 2008) - then repeat for Jan and Feb 2009.

Then apply for a new Platinum Amex ( you are allowed to have more than 1) - and on the new card, you will be able to get another 150K)

And just apply for a new card every 2 months - not ideal - but this is how you can maximize this deal
