Advice on first award ITIN
Greetings,
Please bear with me, this is the first time I’m attempting this.. I’ve gathered a LOT of info from this site these last few months, and admit I’m addicted to FT. Posting here as I didn’t want to create a bunch of cross postings. If this is the wrong forum, please accept my apologies and I will request it moved to the correct one.
First time using AMEX points to get Award ITIN in C in 2009. Would appreciate any advice from the experts. Planning trip to SE Asia for Mrs. BizClsDreaming and myself in Oct/Nov 2009 (10th Anniversary trip). Have ~250K AMEX MR points to transfer. Have looked at ANA tool and AC for *A award availability using random dates to get routings, etc. We’re on US E coast (SAV) and would like to see Thailand (BKK, some beach time) and Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay). Ideally all of this in C (Not enough points for 2 F awards), and get the whole C class & lounge(s) experience. Seems AC\NH\OZ for the long haul would be best? We’re flexible with routes and dates, obviously the closer connections, etc. would be nice, but if not, it’s an excuse to spend a night in a different city…
•ITIN: SAV-JFK/ORD/YYZ-NRT/ICN-HAN-BKK-KBV-BKK-NRT/ICN-JFK/ORD/YYZ-SAV – any suggestions welcome
Here’s how I think this will work:
•Find routings, w/availability on ANA tool, call ANA CS, confirm flights/avail, and only then transfer MR points to NH account
•Hopefully when miles clear everything is still avail and I’ll ask them to ticket ITIN
•I imagine Taxes and Surcharges will be quite high, given the number of flights, is it better to use points for the long haul flights and just buy tickets for some of the internal flights (US and Thailand)?
•Would it be any cheaper/better to transfer to AC instead? Another carrier?
•Any suggestions on best carrier to use, lounges to visit, etc.? (I know, loaded question)
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
