budget hotel options for Dec HKG travel
I'm heading out to Hong Kong in Dec, and am in the process of looking for a hotel for us. It looks like our budget (~US$130/night) is going to narrow down our options a lot. So far I've found that Prudential (deluxe room, US$137) or Holiday Inn Express (standard room, US$138) fit into our price range.
Does anyone have any feedback on these two choices? I realize that there in different locations - is one more convenient than the other, in terms of dining options? Also, if anyone has any experiences (good or bad) of staying at either of these places, I'd be happy to hear about it. Our travel dates for HKG will be 12/10-12/15 - are there other hotels in our price range that I'm overlooking?
Also, after looking at asiatravel, asiarooms, expedia, and the hotels' own websites, it seems that expedia sometimes has better rates (like for Prudential). I've used expedia before to book hotel rooms in the US, but have not used it when traveling overseas. Does anyone have experience using expedia when booking HKG hotels? Any bad experiences (e.g. hotel not having your reservation when you show up)?
Thanks in advance for your help!
