I am not sure why the cutout on the AB side should make a differnece in legroom because the seats already have at least 55" of pitch. I have flown in 1B and 1E on the 752 many times and have not really noticed a difference between the two, other than the small cutout on the AB side - the bulkhead seems to be equally far on each seat pair.
Also, to the OP, remember the manual switch that can be used to extend the footrest even farther than the power switch allows.
