Marriage or not, you still have to reside at the same address of your spouse for at least 6 months before the benefits kick in. A marriage certificate would not expedite your application for pass travel. and if you got married elsewhere... then you'd have to register that marriage here in canada, which would get you a canadian marriage licence anyway.
But you will have to contact AC for the final clarification as to what they accept before your passes kick in.
PS - I think this thread is getting waaay OT, but that's my opinion.
