All I know is in my past travels I was able to use the express lane as MVP in Seattle but now they tell me to go through the general boarding line. I guess you need to fly double what I normally can fly to get the special treatment.
Try the entrance to the D gates rather than the C gates, in my experience they are far more likely to let you through as they don't have to read the BP as close. The C gates gets the majority of the Shuttle traffic.
