It seems in general across chains that the lounges in China at least are always staffed by someone checking you in at the entry point and restricting the number of people who can enter. Is it because they tend to be nicer (more food, drinks, etc.)?
In all hotels worldwide I have seen that the lounge benefits extend to guests in the elite members room. If you have a 2nd room with family in, this could be where the qualification becomes an issue. I have been told that other travelling with me and not in my room were not allowed access (non family members).
