If you have an Amex-issued Amex charge or credit card, you can purchase up to $1000.00 of Amex travelers checks -- fee free -- at any of several Amex Travel Service offices in Manhattan. You can also cash Amex travelers checks at those same offices. (The Amex office at the Marriott Marquis is open seven days.)

If you use a Hilton HHonors, Starwood, or Delta Amex card, the travelers check purchase will also earn you points/miles.
