Way too many variables here. Where are you going? How long are you staying? Are there ATMs there? Scratch that--are there ATMs connected to the international ATM networks? (That's been a problem for me in Japan, Korea, and Nepal, and I'm sure it's an issue in other parts of the world.) How prone is the place to pickpocketing or mugging?
