Travelers checks are ridiculous. I take a few hundred US dollars cash (for conversion on arrival) and two ATM network cards. I also call the issuers of two of my Visa / Mastercard cards and tell them what countries I'm visiting to lessen the chances of fraud blocking when I use them.
