I want to stay in the Patong area, and several people have suggested the Holiday Inn as this apparently has good amentities and is close to beach,
...any experience with package deals air/accomm etc as this might work out cheaper. I note that a lot of info on Phuket land content has not been loaded onto websites thus far suggesting I have a few weeks to consider my options before they are so loaded.
...With three of us, and essentially adults, I would prefer a family suite, or naturally a triple.
I think the Holiday Inn is a good choice if you want Patong and close to the beach. But keep in mind, there are soooooo many nice places (each with it's own little differences) in Patong.
I see no need to book rooms for the whole duration of the trip (except at High Season). You could save lots of cash by booking only the 1st few nights, and finding a good deal once you've arrived.
I think the $100+ places have higher occupancy, but the $40-$100 range is worth considering. Depending on your amenites, and exact location, great deals will be plentiful.
I'd hate to mention names and miss 20 good ones, but Mercure and Ibis both have hotels that have recently opened... Ibis is closer to the ocean and is priced lower. They may have tripple rooms too.
As long as your hotel resort has it's own pool and private grounds, it should be OK for the teenagers. Add the beach, and you should be all set.
