The Trolley - yes or no?

Question. Is Emirates a winner or a loser with that dessert trolley?

Emirates is not my first airline, but I recently took 4 J legs with them and they were good. On one of the four, I even got lucky and had a lie-flat bed which I have to say was superb On the other 3, I had the big pink chairs which reminded me why I always avoid them. Anyway!

The thing that really, really stood out for me is how tediously, painfully slow the meal service is in the J cabin. Am I alone in this? Really, 3 hours to serve dinner?

I think the trolley is a particular factor in this problem. At dessert time I was so bored I told CC I would skip. "Are you sure you don't want just some fruits?" she asked sweetly. Go on then, I said, I'll take some fruits, hoping she would just skip off to the galley and bring me a plate.

An hour later that clanking trolley finally arrived at my side and I manually selected 3 mango, 2 pineapple, 1 fig etc. etc.

Incidentally I noticed on this flight if you DID want dessert, there was no choice except a flamboyantly large french choux pastry bun with cream spilling out, so not sure why a trolley is needed for that?

Why don't EK just plate up their meals and bang them on your tray like everyone else? Does anyone like the trolley?
