Yup, very true. If you are traveling on a non-ref fare, and have a strict no-show clause, if you miss the check-in, you can say goodbye to your whole trip. A nice employee might help accommodate you (out of the good will / unwritten policy), but if you get unlucky.... welcome walk-up Y fare.
