Happiness is...
Remember that song our music teachers used to make us belt out in first grade? Well I'd like to add a new line; Happiness is, booking the last seat on ATL-LHR and getting op-upped when they swiped my boarding pass.
When I logged in earlier in the day I managed to move my seat up to 17B since DL wanted something like $2700 more to change me up to a B fare. No biggie, I just had a handful of jack & cokes at the CRC to help knock myself out so I could sleep through the flight. I got to the gate during zone three boarding, handed her my ticket and stood there slack jawed when a new BP was spat out.
So that's the happy side of the story, now here's an adjunct; when I told my seatmate how happy I was to get op-upped, she told me that there was a gentleman in front of her when she boarded that got downgraded because he didn't have enough miles for the upgrade and that may be what freed my seat up. My seatmate was a novice flyer and was on a full fare so she couldn't really give me any specific details, but can this really happen?
