I know this has generally been considered slightly useless as a function, but nevertheless it could give some comfort that you're sitting close to your kid/s.

We're flying on Sunday (BA43 - J) and still we've no seats allocated as yet. It looks like a full flight, and many of the seats have already been allocated according to EF, so now I'm concerned that our two year old will be away from us.

I called the EC this am and they said if it hasn't been done by tomorrow morning call them and they'll call through and allocate us some seats.

Is it usual for the 3 days before you fly seat allocation thing to not happen? Should I be concerned? I know the day will almost certainly come that I shall welcome the allocation of Master Gamebird some way away , but not quite yet!
