There is a shuttle that runs on the arrivals level and stops at each terminal. Or, you can hang a left out of the terminal and make the walk, either on the arrivals or departure level. I prefer the upper (departure) level.
I prefer the upstairs for the light and less of that "LAX smell." However, at peak times, the upstairs sidewalk is hard to navigate with wheels.
