As a native Tucsonan, I must say that Tucson (and southern Arizona) is a fantastic place for winter guests. The air is clear, the temperatures mild, and the pace of life is relaxed. You could do far worse.
Plus if you are near Nogales, Naco (Bisbee) or Douglas you can head to old Mexico for OTC drugs and medical care (dentist, doctors).
