After renting for a week in OGG and not getting any Free Weekend coupon, I reviewed my Avis first qualifying rentals. I found that the week in OGG rental didn't qualify along with another rental where I used a coupon for a free weekend day.

What actually qualifies as an Avis First rental?

I won't re-qualify for Avis first this year anyway, but that is fine with me. This year I have not been upgraded, and had unfriendly staff during at least half my rentals.

As another poster said, "It's not like other car companies have gotten better, it's that Avis has gotten worse".
