On this map: http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/maps/200806D.html it looks to be about 7 blocks, but who knows if there are sidewalks, etc.
Highly walkable. Don't bother waiting around for a bus if you're at the Roosevelt station anyway.

There is a pedestrian concourse that goes under Lake Shore Drive, for instance. On the map you linked to, it's shown as starting at 11th and Michigan.
