Here's an odd scenario (hinted in an earlier posting):

--taken from 1konly website--
NEW! Every mile counts.
Each mile you fly earns at least one mile toward elite status and redemption, regardless of booking class.

Let's say I book a ticket in XF (that's a free first class ticket). I travel the following r/t: SIN/NRT/LAX/MIA/FJK/MIA/LAX/NRT/SIN. This is roughly 25,000 r/t. Doesn't it seem like the wording for this would mean that this itinerary would be a 75,000 mileage award?

That is, 100,000 miles for the award and then 25,000 subtracted miles for the travel? This isn't even including what might also get subtracted for class of service (50%?) and whether or not this might count as EQM, HK49/HK50s, etc.

Let's see if the wording changes (as UA has the ability to change program rules at any time).
