Actually there aren't any restrictions on the type of aircraft that fly to/from SXM (KLM used to go there with its 744), but indeed - and I am sure that's what you meant - the runway is too short to have a plane larger than the A340 fly nonstop back to Europe (the KLM flight went on to CUR before returning to AMS). Which explains why they don't use the ORY-based Indian Ocean/Caribbean version of the 777-300ER to SXM. But it still could have meant that they had put some Alizé cabin on one of the A340s based in CDG. Which would have restricted its use to serving only SXM, as no other A340 destination has an Alizé offering, so I guess that must be why they use

I mean, they charge Business Class "fare" (60'000 miles), but then I get the cheapo version, i.e. Alizé amenities?
Why don't they just market it as a Business Class product with all the bells and whistles, and that's it?
