I already have a PC membership. As recently as this weekend, I had been told that UA and CO are not yet reciprocating on lounge access.
To answer
jgsx, yes, I want lounge access and it's worth it to me. I'm already aware of the elite discount. Unless I can accelerate that discount, I want to wait to buy the membership for 2 reasons:
1) $50 is $50; If I can get the membership now at the 1P price or can get it at the 2P price but with an extra couple of months of membership due to a promo, I'll do it. If not, I'll probably wait 'til December since my last trip of the year is on UA for Christmas travel and will be a doozy (2-families, 4 cities, 5 days...oy! At least I'm flying solo...).
2) I'd prefer my lounge membership to be synched up with my elite status (e.g., I'd like the lounge membership to expire in Jan or Feb in case I'll drop an elite level in any given year).
As for airports, my most frequented are COS, DFW, SAT, DEN and ORD, in that order; a handful of trips to DCA, IAD, ORF and LAX also, but not enough to worry too much about lounges at these. I know UA just closed the DFW RCC--not a problem since I already have a PC and AC membership. Primary reason for the RCC membership is traveling through DEN on UA--I have recently shifted AA travel in excess of EXP qualification to UA due to company travel changing to UA for next year. That plus a couple of MRs will net 1P this year and maintain it next year.
So, to recap:
COS -- no lounge of any kind
DFW -- Admiral's Club, President's Club, Crown Room Club
SAT -- President's Club, T2 only; Mexicana in T1, can't use it unless flying MX
DEN -- Red Carpet Clubs convenient for travel on UA; others a pain unless on a long layover
ORD -- All to choose from, but I avoid ORD like the plague
Two final questions:
1) UA is not definitive on its admit rules--can I access the RCC on days when I'm flying, but not on UA? This has not been a problem with my AC and PC (including the DL CRC and NW WC) memberships.
2) Are RCC agents much help during IROPS? AC AAngels have usually paid for my membership just in time, money and frustration saved when travel goes pear-shaped.
thanks!
