And in YYZ (don't know about other airports), there are 3 check-in lines: Y, J/Gold/E, and SE. Before I became SE and when I took J or when I was E, I lined up at the J line. When the J counter becomes free, if a SE shows up, he would be served first before the next J pax in line at the J counter. That is SE can trump J. But J cannot trump Y. In some occasions, I was waiting in the J line wishing I had gone to the Y line in the first place.
