Sorry, but I've got to disagree. It is a business delivering a service for a fee (and in Starwood's case, usually a premium). I'm paying for safe, clean, comfortable lodging for the night.
These things shouldn't slip by. It's not rocket science to pull sheets off a bed, truck them down a hallway, stick them into a washer, then dryer, then put them back on a bed again. The way most beds are made up, it's quite obvious whether one has been slept in or not.
When an oversight like this is made, service recovery is key - and it sounds like the hotel made good on fixing the problem, though a $25 F&B comp. or a few SPG points would not be inappropriate as an apology for the inconvenience (and it sounds like the OP was inconvenienced by having to call down and wait for this to be resolved before they could take their nap).
