Thumbs down Aeroplan surcharges should be dropped (or should at least be dramatically lowered)

And I think that Shareholder has part of the answer here: my award ticket lists a YQ surcharge of $124 separate and apart from the $196 YQ surcharge imposed by Aeroplan/AC for the all-AC return part of my journey.

Either the kind agent doesn't know how to read tickets to pick out fuel surcharges or she was, ermmm, not telling the truth. I'd hate to think it was the latter. Something has got to happen to Aeroplan's fuel surcharges; they are out to lunch.

Total fuel surcharges using my existing routing: $320. Total using an all-AC routing: about $640. This is not a trivial difference that is easily explained away. This looks like gouging to me, plain and simple.
