I recently opened a FF account with NH in anticipation of transfering miles from Amex to secure award flights on LH from the US to Europe. I understand that NH will not allow me to reserve the award flights and then transfer the miles from Amex. Does anyone have experience on the amount of time it takes for NH to receive the mileage transfer? I would like to understand the risk of transfering the miles only to determine reward seats on the flights I am interested in are not available. Is there a *Alliance FF program that will allow you to reserve and then transfer from Amex?
