The same properties that upgrade you and swoon on you for paid stays, look at us like 3rd class citizens on award stays.

My examples:

Residence Inn Buffalo... I spent 2 weeks there in a 1 BR suite for work. I came back 1 week later on an award stay (my first ever and I was naieve) and they would only give me a studio, but I could PAY $75 more per night and get a 1 BR.

Aruba Renaissance. Went 3 years ago for my anniversary. My award room looked down over the alley and trash dumpster. Multiple complaints got me NO WHERE.
