My wife is a real fanatic about checking in early. We always check in about 4 hrs before UA international flights to europe. Never heard a comment about too early. There are usually a few others checking in at the same time.

The only early check-in problem I ever had, was with Southwest. Was doing a 4 hour business trip, and not allowed to get ticketed and checked in upon arrival time.
