That, I don't know because I haven't canceled my AP Amex card before.

But I don't think they could legally retract your points once they've been transferred to the AP account. You earned those points and there is nothing in the contract saying they can retract them! However, if you've heard stories of them being retracted, maybe you should verify with those who propagated the stories.
