This just in today's mail "targeted" to one of our non-status kids...a brochure from Mileage Plus offering a variety of the usual miles-for-cruises and other novel non-flight awards. What jumped out at me was this:

The private flight can be chartered for any event:

--Big game sporting events
--Marriage proposals
--Birthday parties

But you don't need to wait for an event to charter the flight. It's definitely an event in itself!

Offer is available for member and 134 other individuals. 45-day advance booking notice required. Subject to aircraft availabilty and airport approval. Offer is available only to destinations served by United Airlines in North America. United will do its best to operate at the times desired by the charterer but due to various government, airport, airway and other operating constraints, they cannot be guaranteed. In the future, additional segments, aircraft type, and destinations may be available for additional mileage or fees. Travel must be completed by November 15, 2004. Prices are roundtrip (based on six-hour flight times or 2,750 flight miles one way) and a maximum of 4 total segments. This is a private charter. Payment must come from one mileage account and seats cannot be resold. No Mileage Plus miles are earned on the flight. The price does not include some additional taxes and fees. Charterer is responsible for: U.S. per-passenger segment tax of $3 per passenger, Passenger Facilities Charges that may be assessed by various airports served, and U.S. Security Fee of $2.50 per passenger. Member will be responsible for any additional U.S. or local taxes that become effective after the execution of the Charter Agreement and on or before the flight date. Member will need to agree to the "Standard United Charter Contract" terms and conditions which are available upon request.
