That may be true but if a room is available, I don't see any hotel would deny the checkin to just sleep for a few hours with a reservation for that date.

Arrivals in the middle of the night are considered "late check-in" by most hotels. Anything contrary to this would mean that the hotel staff would have to REALLY like you.
