Officially, you're supposed to buy the additional maps from Garmin (found on their website), either as a download, software on CD or preinstalled on a SD card. Unofficially, it's possible to find them on the internet. Comes with an app that lets you select maps and/or routes to send to the device. You'll need and SD card to fit much of anything additional.
Thanks. I have a Chinese GPS that accepts all the maps your SD card(s) can handle. (It's native language is Polish.) But my engineering friend who suggested this item to me has had several Garmins for biz and swears you cannot change out the maps. (He bought his first for the company while in Canada - $800+ and he was never able to add even a US map.) Now we both have the Chinese one and add and delete countries as necessary. I'm getting the Nuvi for my husband who never leaves the US, but I am curious.
We're using SDHC 2-4 gb cards and the GPS uses iGo Navicon software.
