I'm off to work later, I'll have a chat with the CSD and get his opinion.

I have to say, I've never heard of that restriction since we've had the rearward facing seats. If I saw you coming on board with those seats, I would suggest to put him into 63A, I'm a mum, and I'd relax more with him by the window.

I hope I get back to you in time for your trip..
I have to agree with the above comments, I'm a Purser for BA on Worldwide and I wouldn't have an issue with your son sitting in 63A. It may be next to an exit but the passenger in that seat cannot be expected to open the door in an emergency, it would take too long to get to it. I would suggest that 62A, 62K, 63B & 63J are the exit seats on the upper deck.

I have my annual checks in a few weeks so I will ask the question when in SEP and see what the people in the know think. May be worth seeing if this can be clarified and the seat plans in the booking system amended accordingly.

I can see where the ticket staff are coming from as they probably haven't seen the actual cabin and only have the booking system's prompts to go by. Go with Flygirl68's advice and I'm sure you'll be fine on the day.
