But having experience with CRS and PMS systems (not Starwood's), I think it is safe to say that SPG (or Starwood Central Res) will not be able to make this type of reservation.

You will need to contact the property directly and ask to book a "day room". Explain that you will be arriving "tonight" and will be checking out "later this morning, at 11:00am/12:00pm". Then explain that you want to pay with points / make a SPG redemption. I'm guessing that the agent will have to manually deduct the points from your SPG account.

I'm just drawing on general hotel industry knowledge. Perhaps the Lurkers could provide more specific information, however the above should be enough to guide the average front desk employee.

Remember that hotels will not have dedicated reservations staff in the early morning hours, so that you might be dealing with the night audit staff who may not be AS knowledgeable with making reservations as the in-house reservations department may be.
Dear incognism,

The best thing about working with this forum is everyday I learn something new. I have just checked with my colleagues from CS about this and a couple of members are correct in this thread. This happens mainly due to the time differences.

Let me discuss with William on this.

Thank you very much.
