My guess it's not likely for the following reasons:

HKG<->SFO was pretty crowded in 2007 as they only had one flight a day. Now there are two, so there's probably less of an chance that the flights are full.

November (especially the latter half) seems to be pretty low load for CX HKG<->SFO. If you check Asia Miles website, you'll find there's quite a bit of upgrade availability (at least for Y to J).

AFAIK, they don't bump people up for no reason. But I believe CX is pretty good about respecting OW status. A couple years ago, I got an op-up from J to F for a flight within Asia as a AA Plat.

Nonetheless, good luck! Maybe you will be lucky for your flight.
