Stayed at the E MDT CY last evening. Hotel was packed due to a large meeting being held in the area, and I would bet 50% of the guests were Gold or Plat.
Around 7AM, went down to have a Premium Pound applied to my bill. Desk clerk had absolutely no idea what it was or how to process it. Next up was a co-worker who wanted to pay with gift checks. Desk clerk had no idea how to apply them. Finally, a 3rd person wanted to pay their bill with a gift card, and (you guessed it) desk clerk had no idea -
AND IT WASN'T HER FAULT.
She was a brand new
trainee, and was by herself on the front desk completely unsupervised, with
no one on property to assist her. She was trying to call customer care (does not open until 8AM); her supervisor at home (how ridiculous) and even the Marriott reservation line to try to get some assistance. It was upsetting to her, and embarrassing to all of us.
Why a manager would put a trainee in this position is beyond me.
