I recently stayed at the W New York Lex Ave this weekend, and after hearing all the negative reviews here, I was worried that my stay would be marred by similar problems. However, that was not the case! I am proud to report that the reWondered W New York lived up to the expectations it lays forth on its website and that my experience was top notch.
To clarify, I checked into the W and was greeted warmly by the doormen and shown immediately to the check-in desk, where I found that the hotel had preblocked a suite (1821) as they knew it was my birthday. The room was large and spacious, with an elegant modern vibe throughout. The bathroom was large with a rainforest showerhead and the room came complete with a small balcony. The whole hotel smelled and looked spotlessly clean and the staff seemed to be very proud of their surroundings and eager to please their clientele.
To point out some of the highlights before this gets too long, here they are:
- No issues reserving the Acura experience
- Welcome water and chocolates were readily available in the lobby next to the elevators
- Any service request (extra glasses, slippers, etc) was completed within 5 minutes of placing the call.
- The W Concierge had great recommendations and passes for some of New York's hottest clubs.
- There was an exceptional level of service in all areas of the hotel - from the SWEAT fitness facility all the way to the cleaning staff who took great care in providing extra amenities upon request.
There are several other positives I could point out from this stay and I would be happy to answer any questions/comments people have. For those who have stayed in this hotel before, I would highly recommend giving it a second chance as they have really worked hard to make it live up to the W name.
