For "cheap" layover accommodation in Guam, the Days Inns are the only safe choice. Standards in Guam are VERY low - even the "big" hotels are pretty sleazy. The Hilton in particular is a real shocker, especially to the Japanese who have some of the nicest Hiltons in the world (Tokyo, Osaka, Tokyo Bay). The Guam Hilton is stinky and smelly, the rooms are rundown, the plumbing is dodgy, and the service is sub-par. And late in the evening, the entryway is a "meeting place" for local gangsters.
Wherever you stay, keep your door locked!
