I've always been happy with the shopping at Singapore if I have time to kill. Seem to always buy something there to burn off my remaining currency. Came home with a travel alarm clock this year, and rechargable batteries the time before, and that was after visiting the shared BA/QF lounge.
Which is why I always organise my flights so I've got at least a 10 hour transit in HKG. Enough time to pop into town, catch up with friends, grab dinner and a few drinks then head back to the CX lounge for the spa/shower/dinner and on the flight at midnight and straight to sleep. Perfect transit.
