JFK to AMM .. Flew over Syria and avoided Israel airspace. Why?
I flew JFK to AMM (DL 26) on 10/8. We were on a straight line (according to the inflight system) to fly over Israel. However, we ended up going North and then turned and flew South over Syria (over Damascus) and landed in Amman.

Just curious why this flight was allowed to fly over Syria (heard this was not allowed) but didn't fly over Israel.
