If they are only intended for the short term why do you get to keep them? If they are just to repack your things then why did they offer one to me when I was already home (and my bag was still sealed, just crushed and broken).
No, these bags are replacements and intended as compensation. No other reasonable explanation. They are cheap, which is understandable, because many travellers have cheap bags.

I had to drive my bag to the repair shop (30 miles) during business hours, leave it there for 5 weeks while parts were on order, and drive back there to pick it up. How is that no loss? It took a lot of my time. If I hadn't driven, I would have to ship at my cost.
In the end, I wasn't upset about not getting any additional compensation (thought it was worth asking about), but to say I suffered no loss is completely wrong.
