Is that International? Domestically they always hold cheap tickets for 24 hours only (next evening).

Everytime I make a res (direct with UA, I usually use a TA) I'm always told we'll hold it but the fare isn't guaranteed until its ticketed. I'm talking typically cheap inventory, V or Q etc.
