Yes you will get food on LH. Also unlike US airlines LH has still free alcoholic beverages in economy. In Frankfurt all signs are in German and English. Staff speaks English. If you need special meals (kosher, vegetarian etc. you have to call LH and order it).

In my opinion LH is much better than every US airline but not as good as some Asian airlines.

About the seats. You have to look up which aircraft type is used on your paticular flights and then you can for example take a look at www.seatguru.com .
