Oh I see... In that case, then I would personally do NRT-NH-(US Gateway)-AC/UA-YVR or NRT-OZ-ICN-OZ-(US Gateway)-AC/UA-YVR, with NH/OZ in F. I'd say the two airlines are equal or better than SQ in many aspects (though SQ will always win on IFE, and they do have a very enjoyable service style). Or even NRT-SQ-LAX-AC/UA-YVR too.

But you're right, your options to YVR with a convenient schedule are pretty limited...
