Yes I am also based out of JFK; you must fly a lot to get emerald status. Maybe I have seen you on a flight out of JFK before? I have asked on numerous occasions for a 74B, but apparently to due difficulty to rotate the aircraft during the daytime, and for other reasons, 74B hasn't been to JFK in quite a few months. I haven't flown a 74B to JFK since April of 2005, when B-18215 was making its tour around.
for the china airlines staff ticket, they have different types of tickets.
1. ZED ticket
you can fly most of the airlines ex:AA,CX,JL, etc. BUT can not used by SQ.
Its based on the airlines company sign the contract with another airlines. its means SQ didn't sign any agreement with other airlines. Also, in this types of ticket is sooooo cheap. RT JFK-TPE just about 8000 NTD, but now raise to 10000 NTD up.
also, they do have some restriction for this types of ticket. such as TPE-FRA, in this route only china airlines has that. so, employee who want to buy the ticket, has to be purchased the "ID00" even no "ID90" can be made. it means if the route only operation with AN airlines, they can not purchase the ZED ticket.
2.ID 90 ( which is china man talks about 1/10 full price ticket)
its used by employee who is working in china airlines under "3" years. they have ID 90 Y, ID90 C, but no ID90 F
3. ID 00
its used by employee who is working in china airlines over "3" years. its total free for the ticket price, but it comes with a lot of surcharge. in this model has ID00 Y, ID00 C, ID00 F.
4.ID 75 (1/4 full price)
its used by employees parents, not valid with brothers and sisters. but husband of wife is good to go. Also, ID 75 good for powerful travel agency or authorized dealer.
information based on my gf explanation. THERE IS NO DIFFERENT WITH CREW OR GROND STAFF. ITS APLLY FOR ALL CHINA AIRLINES EMPLOYEE.
Also, ZED, ID90, ID00 ticket no milage, can not be upgrade.
how can the employee get the seat?
first, when they go to the airport they have to files up to the employee waiting system.
1. ID00
2. ID90
3. ID75
4. ZED ( that airlines employee)
P.S when two or more people holding same types of ticket, they will check how many years you work in the company.
5. ZED ( other airlines employee)
SUPPOSE, ID ticket only allow fly with their working company. but company and company can sign other contract between each other. such as CI & CX on tpe-hkg. UA & CI on tpe-nrt (when my gf use the zed ticket last time, there are couple UA staff).

B-18215 visit on april 24, 2008 ( i have pic
) and B-18210 visit on feb 23, 2008 base my memory. the reason of B-18210 visit cos there was a electronic problem happened in the morning, suppose fly to DPS, when they fix, she visit new york, but before push back, its happened again. all light, pwoer has been shut down. it took about 1 hours to fix. every time i fly with 74c... always got problem.. only B-18212 WITHOUT technical problem.
