Good point for mentioning the variable miles. I fly Delta predominantly, and I don't give much of a rip if I lose miles in any other airline.

For work, I usually stay in Hamptons, rather than Hiltons (just once) or Hilton resorts (next month). I used to choose points + points, because I would pay with Delta Amex, and I could get Skymiles that way. Now that I've made Diamond, I'm getting enough points through the diamond bonus that I want to pad my Skymiles account.

The "fixed miles" setup penalizes me for staying at Hamptons (100 pts per stay max). It's not worth it for more than a one-night stay, at best. It goes up to 500 points per stay at any other Hilton property, so I would reccommend it for a weekend stay anywhere else.
