Don't quote me on this, but while some have questioned United's sometimes slow reaction to competitive actions such as AA"s full fare comp upgrades, some may tell you this is rather a calculated and cautious move on UA management's behalf.
After all, why test the waters and take on certain risks when your biggest competitor does it all for you?
Perhaps one can say that UA is jumping in after the water has proven to not scald its competitors? Food for thought...
