If you are looking for ski in, ski out, it ain't gonna happen with a Hilton. If you want really close you are probably better off going with one of the lodges.
Indeed, I'd rule out HH if you want to be near into the ski area.
For example, Rutland is fine if all you want is a view of Killington. But even in summer, it takes a good part of an hour to get up to Killington because it's a winding slow mountain road. And in winter it could take longer (both because of road conditions and possibly more traffic). So while for a one-day trip there (if you're only going to go skiing one day in each area and only for a few hours each day) it might not be so horrible, but if you want to ski multiple days on the same mountain I would think the long commute could get a bit ridiculous.
