So funny (as in odd, not hilarious) that many airlines still allow you to put your bag :
- under the seat in front of your adjacant seat
- behind your seat
- on your lap
- on someone else's lap
- in the aisle
- in the floor area in front of the bulkhead (especially large items like suitcases)
- in the space by the emergency exit (especially large items like fridges and bikes)
